Keeping up with this blog is proving to be a little harder than i thought, which is somewhat a good thing because we have been so busy, but also slightly a bad thing because we have been so busy, and therefore i am super tired!
I am currently writing this on the train from Barcelona to Aix En Provence, so since my last update we have been to Edinburgh, Gorthleck (Scottish Highlands), Paris and Barcelona! In order to not spam my blog with every day ill only post one post for each place.
So the next stop after London was Edinburgh, and we were catching the train. As I mentioned earlier, first class rail is just awesome. Our hostel in London was just near Kings Cross station, which was where the train left from, and being able to walk to the station half an hour before was great. And if you actually knew what was going on, I’m sure you could rock up even later.
I think ill try and tell the story by just chucking up a lot of pics, i can’t really be bothered writing too much!
Kings Cross Station. Apparently the Platform 9 3/4 is in there somewhere, but we didn’t have time to find it.
More open top busses
Typical Street in Edinburgh
View of Edinburgh Castle and the National Library of Scotland (i think)
More Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh Military Tattoo – this was amazingly good, so much better than what i thought it was going to be. I was expecting just a long procession of marching bands, but it was quite a lot more fun than what i was expecting. The New Zealand marching band was probably the best – they came out and did the Haka, and then proceeded to just play snippets of popular songs, including gangnam style and the theme to game of thrones, it was really fun.
On the second day we went and visited Edinburgh Castle. I loved learning about all of the history of the Scottish people, it was something that I didn’t know much about, so that was really good.
View of Edinburgh from the castle perched up on top of the hill.
Later that night we went to the Edinburgh Fringe to see Jason Byrne. We liked him so much we ended up seeing a second show afterwards, which was a late night comedy all stars sort of show, and Jason Byrne and Adam Hills were hosting it. It was pretty awesome. They also had Fosters on tap everywhere which was quite interesting. Yes I did have to have a pint of it, no, its not that great.
Our view for the second show. For the first show we got tickets really early so we were sitting in the second row!. We had a choice of seats so we decided to sit in the middle to minimise the chances that we got called up on stage haha.
