So I calculated earlier that is has now been more than 24 hours since i last slept, and that combined with the piddly few hours sleep saturday night after the wedding, makes it about 3 hours in the last 48. Fair to say i am a bit tired, but thankfully made it here safely
Both flights were pretty uneventful, and the second part of the leg from Dubai to Heathrow was in an A380, so that was pretty cool. What an amazing piece of engineering that thing is. One of the nice things was that when we arrived at Dubai Airport, there was a lady there waiting for us saying that we have now been put on an earlier flight, so instead of a 2 hour 45 minute stopover, it was now only a bit over an hour. Dubai looked like quite an interesting place to visit, at least as much of a perspective you can get from flying into the airport. one thing that was pretty crazy was the amount of sand and dust that was in the atmosphere, it reduced visibly to almost nothing. The food was also quite good. Overall i would highly recommend Emirates. All in all, from getting to the airport in perth to getting to our hostel in London, It has taken around 25 hours.
When we got to Heathrow we worked out that the best plan of attack was the underground, as opposed to the other airport train which apparently costs a lot more and still wouldn’t have gotten us all the way to where we wanted to go. About an hour on the train saw us arrive at Kings Cross station, and thankfully, in our sleep deprived daze, we managed to find the place pretty easily. Due to the pricey nature of London accommodation, we are staying a private room in a hostel, which consists of a bunk bed and literally thats about it. But the room was very clean by hostel standards and the showers were passable.
Tomorrow’s plans are just to firstly sleep in a bit so that we can try and catch up a bit, and then maybe jump on the hop on hop off bus and just cruise around a bit.
